I discovered Mixcloud. This is a neat service that lets you upload your own radio programs featuring copyrighted music, and pays royalties to the appropriate collecting agencies so that this act is actually legal. I think that’s super neat, and it’s exactly the kind of service I have been looking for for a long time.

I made a ~45 minute Psych and Garage playlist, perfect for side one of a C90 cassette. I’ll be making more mixes over the coming weeks, and I have a lot of music to explore.

This tape starts with Jerry Cole’s The Id, then goes to The Animated Egg, Astro Sounds from Beyond the year 2000, and Them, before stepping away from Jerry Cole and exploring some other wild psychedelic tunes. The whole thing features narration by an old speach synthesis program I had kicking around. Maybe I’ll be up for using my own voice on the next one.
